Popcorn Poppin on the….Cob??

If you’ve been following along it’s no secret that we have been spending lots of time at our local farms this fall as we soak in all the amazing pumpkin patches and fall festivities.  It’s also opened my eyes to the ability to visit these farms all year round for not only the great produce but also the experience the kids get from visiting and asking questions.  If you know me personally you know that I have always been a huge believer in eating fresh, organic, whole foods that are locally grown whenever possible….I’m kind of a freak about it when it comes to my kids.  So food is a big topic in our house and I’ve loved teaching my kids the process of how food grows, the importance of fueling our body with healthy foods, and hopefully providing them with a lifelong healthy relationship with the foods they eat.

One area that we have ALWAYS struggled with is healthy snacks, outside of fruits and veggies, and popcorn has become one of our go-to snack items that the kids love.  It’s so much healthier, preservative free, and easy to grab on the go.  So when Petersen Farm reached out to me about their Popcorn on the Cob I was all about trying it out.  And you guys it did not disappoint!

First of all the packaging is great and includes everything you need, and by great I mean you could give it as a gift as is, which already has me thinking this will be my go-to neighborhood/friend Christmas gifts…I mean so easy, and so good…WIN WIN in my busy mom life!

Secondly the instructions are clearly spelled out and it’s super simple, literally put one cob in the provided brown bag, fold top 3 times, place flat in the microwave, pop for two minutes.  And is this not the perfect rainy day activity or pre-movie prep with the kiddos?!?!

I’m all about activities that the whole family can do together and this was as easy for my 20 month old to be apart of as it was for my 3 year old.

The kids were fascinated by the corn still stuck to the cob, and it was pretty cool to see their excitement as they opened their bags up.

Our toppings of choice were butter, salt, Parmesan cheese, and dill…because everything in my life is better with dill!  But it is pretty damn good…if you haven’t tried this combo I would highly recommend it!

And just like that perfect popcorn in 2 minutes!

Needless to say the kids loved it and we will definitely be doing it again!  I’m dying to know what you’re favorite snacks are and how do you get the kids involved in the kitchen with you?   Leave a comment below.
